Some games are about rankings. Some are about championships. But this Week 3 showdown between Alabama and Ohio State? THIS ONE IS PERSONAL!
Two of the biggest powerhouse programs in USDA are preparing for an absolute war in Columbus, Ohio, as Coach Ocho and his No. 5 Alabama Crimson Tide travel into hostile territory to face Coach Trent and his No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes.
This matchup has been circled on both coaches' calendars since the schedule was released. The trash talk, the history, the bad blood — it's all been building toward this moment.
But there's one problem.
COACH TRENT OWNS A 9–0 ALL-TIME RECORD AGAINST COACH OCHO!
Nine meetings. Nine victories. ZERO losses!
At some point, you have to ask: Is this even a rivalry anymore, or is Trent just collecting rent from Ocho every season?
Coach Ocho is tired of hearing about that record. He wants his first victory, and he wants it in the worst way. Meanwhile, Trent has absolutely no plans of letting his favorite opponent off the hook.
For Trent, the mission is simple: TURN NINE INTO TEN!
ALABAMA: DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS, BUT CAN IT FINALLY BEAT TRENT?
Coach Ocho enters Week 3 with one of the most feared defensive units in USDA, and if Alabama plans on leaving Columbus victorious, that defense better be ready to play the game of its life.
The Crimson Tide are coming off a convincing 38–8 victory over West Virginia, holding the Mountaineers to just 198 total yards.
But Ohio State isn't West Virginia.
Trent's Buckeyes feature arguably the most explosive offense in the entire league, and Alabama's defense will have to be nearly perfect to slow it down.
Ocho's defensive game plan has to revolve around pressure, turnovers, and getting off the field on third down. Alabama cannot afford to let Ohio State establish a rhythm or turn this game into a track meet.
The Crimson Tide need sacks, interceptions, forced punts, and multiple three-and-outs. Every possession they take away from Trent is another opportunity for Alabama to control this football game.
And leading that defensive charge is one of the biggest names in college football.
THE MILLION-DOLLAR MATCHUP: ZABIEN BROWN VS. JEREMIAH SMITH!
This might be the most anticipated individual matchup of the entire USDA season!
Alabama superstar cornerback Zabien Brown made the decision to pass on the NFL Draft and return for his senior season. Now he's staring down what could be the biggest assignment of his college career.
Across from him will be Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the country.
We're talking about two elite players who could very well be the No. 1 and No. 2 prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft!
Brown has the coverage ability to make life difficult for any receiver, but Smith isn't just any receiver. He's a game-changing superstar who can turn one missed tackle or blown assignment into six points.
If Brown can eliminate Smith from Trent's game plan, Alabama's chances of winning increase dramatically.
But if Smith starts cooking early, Ocho could be in for another long afternoon.
THE BEST CORNER IN THE LEAGUE VS. THE REIGNING HEISMAN WINNER. SOMEBODY'S REPUTATION IS GETTING TESTED!
KEELON RUSSELL: CAN HE LEAD ALABAMA TO THE UPSET?
While Alabama's defense will receive most of the attention, the Crimson Tide offense has an equally important responsibility.
Quarterback Keelon Russell holds the keys to Alabama's success.
Russell has weapons around him, talented running backs in the backfield, and an offensive line capable of protecting him. But against Ohio State, simply having talent won't be enough.
Ocho needs Russell to play smart, protect the football, and most importantly, sustain drives.
Third-down conversions could decide this entire matchup.
Alabama cannot afford to go three-and-out and immediately hand the football back to Trent's explosive offense. Russell must keep the chains moving, establish a balanced attack, and control the clock.
The longer Alabama's offense stays on the field, the longer Jeremiah Smith and Tavien St. Clair are standing on the sidelines watching.
And that's exactly what Coach Ocho needs.
KEEP TRENT'S OFFENSE ON THE BENCH, WIN THE TIME-OF-POSSESSION BATTLE, AND MAKE EVERY DRIVE COUNT!
OHIO STATE: TRENT ISN'T CHANGING A DAMN THING!
Why change something that has worked nine straight times?
Coach Trent enters this matchup with all the confidence in the world, and honestly, why wouldn't he?
The Buckeyes are riding a 14-game winning streak and just dismantled No. 23 Louisville 55–10 in Week 2.
Ohio State's offensive numbers from that victory were ridiculous.

That's the kind of offensive production that keeps defensive coordinators awake at night.
Trent plans to attack Alabama the same way he's attacked Ocho in their previous nine meetings: spread the field, air the football out, mix in timely runs, and force the defense to defend every blade of grass.
The Buckeyes want to make Alabama's defense hesitate just long enough to unleash Jeremiah Smith downfield.
But the biggest factor in this game might not be Smith.
It might be the man throwing him the football.
TAVIEN ST. CLAIR: THE GUNSLINGER FACING HIS BIGGEST TEST!
Ohio State quarterback Tavien St. Clair, a 93-overall dual-threat senior, has the arm talent to pick defenses apart.
Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 232 pounds, St. Clair brings size, mobility, and the ability to extend plays when the pocket collapses.
But Alabama's defense is a different animal.
Ocho will throw pressure at St. Clair from every direction. He'll disguise coverages, attack the pocket, and try to force the quarterback into mistakes.
The question isn't whether St. Clair can make throws when everything is perfect.
CAN HE MAKE THE RIGHT THROW WHEN EVERYTHING GOES WRONG?
When Alabama's pass rush gets home, will St. Clair panic, or will he use his legs to escape and keep the play alive?
Can he recognize disguised coverages before the snap? Can he deliver under pressure without forcing dangerous passes?
If St. Clair remains composed, Ohio State's offense could be nearly impossible to stop.
But if Alabama rattles him early, Ocho might finally have the opening he's been waiting nine games to find.
ZION ELEE: OHIO STATE'S NEW DEFENSIVE NIGHTMARE!
Don't make the mistake of thinking Ohio State is all offense.
Trent went into the transfer portal and added a serious problem for opposing offensive lines: Zion Elee.
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound junior speed rusher arrives with an 88 overall rating and the ability to completely change a game from the edge.
Elee's explosive first step, Quick Jump ability, and Pocket Disruptor badge make him a dangerous weapon against any quarterback.
And Keelon Russell is about to find that out firsthand.
If Elee can consistently win his matchup and force Russell into hurried decisions, Alabama's offense could struggle to sustain the long drives it desperately needs.
Ohio State's defense doesn't necessarily have to dominate every snap. It just needs enough stops to give Trent's offense additional possessions.
Against an offense capable of putting up 50 points, that's a dangerous formula.
But against Alabama's physical offensive line and balanced attack, the Buckeyes will have to prove they can win in the trenches.
THE FIVE KEYS TO THE GAME
1\. Zabien Brown vs. Jeremiah Smith: Can Alabama's superstar corner contain the reigning Heisman winner, or will Smith deliver another signature performance?
2\. Third-down conversions: Alabama must sustain drives and keep Ohio State's offense watching from the sidelines.
3\. Tavien St. Clair under pressure: Can Ohio State's quarterback survive Alabama's vicious pass rush without making costly mistakes?
4\. Zion Elee vs. Alabama's offensive line: Can Ohio State's portal addition disrupt Keelon Russell and force Alabama into uncomfortable situations?
5\. The turnover battle: Alabama needs extra possessions and short fields. Ohio State needs to protect the football and avoid giving Ocho any momentum.
USDA FINAL WORD: IS IT A RIVALRY IF ONE MAN NEVER WINS?
Nine games. Nine losses.
That's the reality Coach Ocho has been living with every time he lines up against Coach Trent.
And now, with arguably the best defense he's ever assembled, Ocho has another opportunity to finally change the narrative.
But standing in his way is an Ohio State program that's clicking on all cylinders, a quarterback capable of making every throw, and a reigning Heisman winner who can take over a game at any moment.
This matchup represents the ultimate clash of football philosophies.
ALABAMA'S ELITE DEFENSE VS. OHIO STATE'S EXPLOSIVE OFFENSE.
Can Ocho slow down Trent long enough to control the clock and grind out a victory?
Or will Trent once again remind everybody why he's had Alabama's number for nine straight meetings?
The stakes couldn't be higher. Two top-five teams. Two powerhouse programs. One bitter rivalry. And a whole lot of pride on the line.
For Ocho, this is about respect, revenge, and finally getting that first victory.
For Trent, it's just another opportunity to make history at his rival's expense.
THE BIGGEST QUESTION IN USDA HEADING INTO WEEK 3:
WILL OCHO FINALLY GET THE MONKEY OFF HIS BACK, OR WILL TRENT MAKE IT A PERFECT 10–0?
