- Your cap = 25% of your Dynasty Points (◆) wheel total, which you enter on My Hub — the number after the slash in the center of Program Overview → Dynasty Point Allocation, rounded up to the nearest 5. Every coach uses the same 25%. Your budget is earned from your four school grades (Conference Prestige, Brand Exposure, Stadium Atmosphere, Program Tradition) and resets every season.
- Log every offer on My Class at what you actually spent. The game sets the price; the league publishes no price list.
- Outside the cap: retention, coaching staff and facilities.
- Players you persuade to stay are charged to next season's budget (see Player Retention).
- Overspending is a commissioner call under Playing in Good Faith — no automatic penalty table. My Hub shows you when you're past the line.
- Recruit anywhere — no out-of-pipeline surcharge.
Recruiting & Off-season
Your budget, your philosophy, visits and the coaching carousel.
4 rulesYour recruiting identity. It splits your allotment between high school and the transfer portal:
| Philosophy | HS / Portal |
|---|---|
| 🌱 Developmental | 80 / 20 |
| 🏆 Recruit & Retain | 70 / 30 |
| ⚖️ Balanced (default) | 60 / 40 |
| 🔀 Hybrid | 50 / 50 |
| 🚪 Portal Program | 33 / 67 |
Set it on My Hub. By default you can switch any time; a commissioner may run committed mode, which locks it for several seasons. My Hub shows which mode your league runs.
- Visits are for HS recruits only — the transfer-portal window included. No portal visits.
- Visits are allowed only when you're up against a Power 4 school for that recruit.
The carousel is open Weeks 15–18 (Conference Championships → Bowl Week 3).
Firing a coordinator is performance-based. The goal: no unrealistic coordinator turnover just to hunt for better abilities or coaching-tree stacks. If his unit meets the standard for your program's prestige, he stays. If it falls below, you may make a change.
Measured by regular-season points-per-game rank: the OC by points scored per game, the DC by points allowed per game.
- 5 or 4.5 star prestige: top 30.
- 4 star: top 50.
- 3.5 or 3 star: top 70.
- 2.5 star and below: top 100.
Being eligible means you may fire that coordinator — you are never required to. A coordinator who met the standard must be retained.
Your playbook is your coordinator's on both sides of the ball: change your offense by hiring an Offensive Coordinator and your defense by hiring a Defensive Coordinator — offseason only, during the carousel, then declare both on My Hub. No mid-season changes.
Why your old coordinator left decides your book. Check the reason on EA's Staff Moves screen:
- Fired — and the game also shows "Fired" for a coordinator you did not extend. Run the new coordinator's book (his school's) or the generic book of his scheme. Your previous book is no longer allowed.
- Hired by Another Team or Went to the NFL — he was poached. You may keep your current book, which stays tied to you, or take the new coordinator's book or his scheme's generic.
No head coaches as coordinators. Don't hire or poach a head coach — fired or current — as your OC or DC. A user taking over a team displaces its head coach into the hiring pool, and those coaches are far better than a normal coordinator.
Head coach jobs: apply only to ACC, B1G or SEC jobs. A Big 12 or G6 job only if you're fired and no ACC, B1G or SEC school wants you.
