Longhorns 21, Sooners 7

The biggest game of the USDA season delivered a statement from Austin.
Texas is the USDA National Champion after defeating SEC powerhouse Oklahoma 21–7 in the national championship game, putting together a complete performance when the stakes were at their highest.

Oklahoma entered the championship with the reputation and talent of a powerhouse, but Texas controlled the game from start to finish. The Longhorns played with composure, executed when opportunities came their way and never allowed the Sooners to find the offensive rhythm they needed.

TEXAS CONTROLS THE CHAMPIONSHIP
The story of the night was Texas’ ability to dictate the game.

A 21–7 final score doesn’t tell the entire story. The Longhorns consistently made the plays necessary to keep Oklahoma at arm’s length, while their defense made sure every Sooner possession became a fight for points. Oklahoma managed just seven points on the biggest stage of the season.

Texas, meanwhile, found the end zone three times and did enough on both sides of the football to turn the championship into a celebration in Austin.

BEATING AN SEC POWERHOUSE
There was no easy path to the trophy, and beating Oklahoma made the accomplishment even more significant.

The Sooners represented everything that comes with playing an SEC powerhouse in a championship game — talent, physicality and the ability to change a game with one big play. Texas simply wouldn’t let it happen.

For four quarters, the Longhorns stayed disciplined and refused to give Oklahoma the opening it needed.

THE LONGHORNS ARE CHAMPIONS
When the final whistle sounded, there was no debate about who had finished the job.

Texas 21.
Oklahoma 7.
USDA National Champions.

The Longhorns came into the season chasing the ultimate prize.

Now they have it.

Texas sits on top of the USDA college football world.
