Going Over the NIL Budget

Last updated Jul 27, 2026

Any team that finishes the season over their NIL budget will face a stacked set of penalties applied to the following season. These penalties compound — they are not alternatives.

Penalties applied next season:

  • 25% deduction from next season's total NIL budget
  • Additional deduction equal to the highest-paid incoming player's NIL value
  • Highest-rated incoming recruit nerfed to 30 OVR
  • −12 USDA Legacy Points (LP)

These penalties are non-negotiable. The NIL system is a hard cap, not a soft target — finishing over budget is a failure of roster management, and the penalties are designed to make it materially worse to overspend than to walk away from a target.
