Roster & Position Changes

Who plays where, and what it costs to keep a player who wants to leave.

2 rules

A position change should be a move a real staff would make in spring ball — not a way to farm one athlete across the depth chart.

Inside a position group, move freely. No declaration needed:

  • Offensive line: LT / LG / C / RG / RT
  • Linebacker: WILL / MIKE / SAM
  • Safety: FS ↔ SS
  • Edge: LEDG ↔ REDG

Crossing groups needs a public declaration — corner to safety, edge inside to tackle, receiver to tight end. Post the player and both positions before the change takes effect, wherever your league keeps roster announcements. Your commissioner names that venue, and can decline a move that is roster laundering rather than football.

Athletes (ATH) have no home group, so the test is playing time: put him where he is top five on your depth chart, and declare it.

Formation and package substitutions stay unrestricted. This rule is about a player's listed position, not about your personnel groupings.

The first offseason phase after the National Championship is Players Leaving — upperclassmen declare for the NFL Draft or enter the Transfer Portal. You may persuade any of them to stay.

There are no rules about who you persuade, how many you keep, or which draft grades are eligible. This replaces every old "must let leave" restriction with one honest constraint: keeping a player costs Dynasty Points, and the game sets that price. This rulebook does not publish a competing one.

Retention is charged to NEXT season's budget. Log everyone you keep on My Class, in Dynasty Points (◆), at what you actually paid. The total comes off next season's room as a carry-over deduction once the season rolls over.

That last part is a league rule, not something the game does, and it is the whole point: keeping a star costs you in the year you have to replace him. Build your retention list against next year's room, not this year's pride.
